VIDEO: A Transforming NYC Apartment.

Back in 2005, architects Michael Chen and Kari Anderson took a tiny 450 square foot Manhattan apartment with a budget of $70,000 and renovated it with a 'transforming' interior. The design involved totally redoing the kitchen and designing a central cabinet system that housed a hideaway bed and walls that can swing/fold out into the space to create an office desk and dividers for added privacy. has multiple living areas that strategically overlap and leak into each other. Including a living room, bedroom, kitchen, dining area and even a semi-private place for guests to sleep. Most of the transforming functionality centers around a large cabinet which features a hideaway bed and fold-up office space, but even the kitchen has appliances stashed away under the counter, maximizing work space. it transform below:
