There is a house in Hawaii that is not only amazing on its own... it also has a Star Wars-inspired home theater...
Once you get past the intense blue-glow... you may notice the life-sized C3-PO and R2-D2 replicas left and right of the screen. The ceiling has a mounted video projector and a fiber optic starscape. To top it off the entrance to the theater has a motorized pocket door that slides open when you enter... AND to make your movie watching even easier there is a touchscreen remote that has one button - "WATCH DVD".
The designers, Acoustic Innovations of Boca Raton, FL, didn't want the gear to break the intergalactic illusion, so they hid it: acoustic panels on the walls were designed to look like starship doors, equipment racks turn 180 degrees, so they can be concealed by a concave cabinet, and the Runco DLP projector that makes the magic happen is hidden inside a soffit in the rear of the room. The screen is a curved, anamorphic 107-inch display from Stewart Filmscreen, which is acoustically transparent to accomodate the five speakers behind it.
Don't know about you but the interior is more like a Tron-Star Trek mashup than Star Wars... also I'm not sure how I'd feel watching a movie that's NOT a sci-fi in this theater.
....what do you think?
