Super Bowl: The Lombardi Trophy

America's favorite holiday, Super Bowl XLV is getting closer and we are all preppin' to witness the battle between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers...
...no matter who the winner will be, one thing is certain... one will walk away with the prized Vince Lombardi Trophy...
This trophy, originally created in 1920, is awarded to the winning team of the National Football League's championship game, the Super Bowl. Being such a high honor to receive such an award, the design form is simple and modest to say the least. The elegant design is simply meant to resemble a regulation size football on top of a kicking tee... however it is handmade by Tiffany & Co, created entirely with 7 pounds of sterling silver, valued at approximately $50,000 and takes about four months and 72 man-hours to create!
On top of all that, two trophies are made just in case one is damaged during post-game celebrations...
For the first few years, “World Professional Football Championship” was inscribed on the base. When the award was renamed in honor of Vince Lombardi in 1970, the inscription was changed to, “Vince Lombardi Trophy”Inscribed below the logo is the name of the winning team and the score and date of the Super Bowl game.

...truly a prize to be earned.
