Apple & Intel unveil Thunderbolt..!!

With the anticipated new MacBook Pros coming out, Apple and Intel recently unveiled the new Thunderbolt I/O Technology.... Apple is hoping that this new addition will become poplular with other platforms and become the new 'standard' for high performance I/O with it's promising 10Gb/second transfer rates...
What does that mean exactly? For example, Thunderbolt will increase speeds to transfer a full-length HD movie in less than 30 seconds... WOW, that is fast!
That's dual-channel, too so you'll get 10Gb/sec both to and from your devices. Apple suggests this will be useful for external RAID arrays, Gigabit Ethernet adapters, and also mentions support for "FireWire and USB consumer devices" along with HDMI, DVI, and VGA over DisplayPort. Apple expects that Thunderbolt will be "widely adopted as a new standard for high performance I/O...
It is rumored that the new iPad 2 will have an added port. Perhaps the Thunderbolt will be making an appearance on it as well...
