The Reasoning Behind the Ugly Carpeting at Casinos...

Whether your a designer or not, we can all agree that the carpeting at Casinos are pretty butt-ugly... These are the same hotels that have beautiful hotel suites with welcoming decor and comfortable bedding, but when you set foot in the lobby casino....BOOM! ugly carpeting - Why is this...?
Dave Schwartz, Director of the Center for Gaming Research at the University of Nevada Las Vegas...theorizes that "casino carpet is known as an exercise in deliberate bad taste that somehow encourages people to gamble."
The loud obnoxious carpeting serves three other useful purposes:
The first is to disguise any stains from spilled drinks, food, vomit, bodily fluids... The second is to visually repel your vision from the ugly flooring and keep your attention on the gaming tables and slot machines. And the third reason [and my favorite] is that the crazy patterns and bright colors of the carpeting camouflage gambling chips that have accidentally fallen onto the floor. According to another source, every night the casinos sweep up a large number of chips that people have dropped profiting back from their carelessness...
