You know 3D is going to be in our future when Apple Inc takes notice enough to file for patents for new 3D features. Apple has always had 3D in mind with "multi-dimensional" OS and  head-tracking technology. Now the Cupertino company is working on light sensors that interact and respond with the surrounding ambient lighting. Depending on the position of the light with the laptop/computer display, objects on the desktop will project a shadow accordingly. Also in the same spirit, there is a feature in the works where widgets on the screen will have a 3D quality visually and functionally when the user moves them about the screen.
