Doomsday Seed Vault

Up in Norway's Svalbard archipelago, holds the world's storage for seeds. This 'Doomsday Vault' began two years ago in 2008 to secure and preserve the seeds from war and natural disasters. Two years later, this underground facility holds one third of the world's seeds at a half a million! This seed bank is the master backup to the other 1,400 seed banks around the globe. As a matter of fact, two seed banks in the Middle East were destroyed by war and another in the Philippines was flooded by a typhoon. Luckily, the Svalbard location was designed to withstand global warming, earthquakes and even nuclear strikes!

This seed bank is like the Noah's Arch of agriculture hidden away within a mountain!
