The Amazing 'Mimic Octopus'


Today's science fiction movies depict characters called 'shape-shifters' that can change their appearances. The Mimic Octopus is far from fiction. Discovered off the coast of Indonesia in 1998, this octopus not only can change it's appearance but also it's behavior. These quick changing capabilities are probably why they weren't discovered until 1998! In a blink of an eye this creature can change it's color, shape and even behavior when approached by a predator or prey. From the video below, the Mimic Octopus can change it's shape and movements of a real Flounder Fish, a Lion Fish and even a Sea Snake...
