Space Elevator coming soon...

The launching and flying a Space Shuttle in orbit costs around half a billion dollars. NASA is brewing up a plan to make trips to space cheaper by engineering an elevator that would climb a ribbon to an orbiting satellite. Although this sounds like science fiction, there are teams working, as we speak, to make this a reality. Scientists discovered a new way of using Carbon Atoms by forming them in tubes, called Nanotubes. The links below will explain the process better than I can...I'm not a rocket scientist....
